Originally, Jack was going to be a main guardian along with the big four from the start of the movie, but after some chats the people involved decided to make him younger, and have his evolution into a guardian be the story, and so you can see the initial designs for him, slowly evolving into the Jack we know and love today!

Can we talk about Sabriel and how:

Sabriel wears a long-sleeved coat of chainmail and a loose surcoat for the majority of the book and was depicted as such on the cover

The Abhorsen is a unisex title which requires three things: Being part of the family, having great badassery, and being good at music

Sabriel’s mother is dead… but since Sabriel can talk to the dead, it ain’t no thing

When faced with a statue of a naked man, Sabriel was a little embarrassed at first, then realized it was a little too lifelike to be a regular statue and just to make sure she looked him over again, really, really, really thoroughly

When given the choice to lift the spell on Statue Touchstone by kissing him or breathing on him, she uses a breath since it’ll be weird now that she knows it’s an actual human

Sabriel doesn’t like being called ‘milady’ by Touchstone because… she’s a high school graduate with theoretical knowledge but no working experience, and she doesn’t feel the title is appropriate

Sabriel also doesn’t want to take on the Abhorsen title because her father has to die before that happens. In fact most of the book is more about Sabriel coming to terms with the fact that her father is dead instead of her not liking the job

She likes cats, experimented with brandy when she was about fifteen, is nice to children, and cries when she finally realizes she can’t save her father

In short, she’s a normal person who happens to be a woman and kill zombies

The Amazing Underwater Forest of Lake Kaindy

What makes Lake Kaindy truly remarkable is that it contains an underwater forest. Visible on the lakes surface are the tall, dried-out tops of submerged Spruce trees that rise above the water’s surface like the masts of sunken ships. They are the only sign of the amazing frozen forest below the water’s surface.

The water is so cold (even in summer the temperature does not exceed 6 degrees) that the pine needles remain on the trees, even after a hundred years of being submerged. During the winter, the lake freezes and becomes a popular spot for ice diving.

The lake is 400 meters long and is located in Kazakhstan’s portion of the Tian Shan Mountains, about 129 km from the city of Almaty. The lake was created after an earthquake in 1911 triggered a large landslide blocking the gorge and forming a natural dam.

Tooth’s feathers have this purple sheen on the lower half of her body and it’s only apparent when her knees are bent or the angle is right

And Jack has kinda splotchy skin and scraggly canine teeth and salt and pepper eyebrows
